Job Description
The School of St Jude, a pioneering leader in charitable education in Africa, is seeking a qualified and passionate Economics Teacher for its Smith Campus. This full-time position involves teaching A-level Economics, developing lesson plans, and inspiring students within a holistic learning curriculum. The school provides free, quality education to 1,800 students and supports government schools with quality teachers, funded by generous global supporters.
Requirements
- A Tanzanian national
- Bachelor Degree in Economics from an Accredited University within East Africa with excellent academic performance records (competency for A-level teaching will be assessed via a 1-hour exam)
- Minimum of Three (3) years of teaching experience for Advanced Level with outstanding performance from top performing schools
- Strong ability to deliver NECTA curriculum content using modern teaching methods and strategies that support a competency-based approach to learning and assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as a medium of instruction (English competency will be assessed)
- A well-rounded, independent and mature individual with diverse knowledge in Education and one that observes teaching ethics and demonstrates a refreshing approach to teaching
- A teacher with a vibrant, diligent and motivating personality for students
- Ability to adapt to the school’s diverse Policies and Procedures (including working over the weekends when required)
- Having a Post graduate diploma in Education will be considered an additional advantage

Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate lesson plans, schemes of work, lesson notes, and examinations for A-level Economics
- Facilitate a holistic learning curriculum, inspiring and mentoring students
- Deliver NECTA curriculum content using modern teaching methods and strategies that support a competency-based approach to learning and assessments
- Understand the importance of ECA’s (Extra Curricular Activities) and inspire and mentor students to participate
- Take on extra duties such as being on duty, leading assembly, guiding projects, and being a member of various school committees
- Strive for academic and moral excellence and encourage students to aim high and achieve
