Job Description
The Aga Khan Foundation, in collaboration with TGNP and supported by the Irish Embassy Tanzania, is recruiting a dedicated Project Assistant for the Tuinuke Pamoja Project. This transformative initiative focuses on advancing gender equality in the Dodoma region. The Project Assistant will be crucial in supporting the planning, execution, and monitoring of grassroots project activities, fostering inclusive participation, and ensuring timely, high-quality project delivery.
Requirements
- Diploma in Community Development, Social Studies, Gender, or a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of field experience promoting gender equality, working with grassroots groups, communities, and Local Government Authorities (LGAs)
- Proficiency in designing community mobilization, sensitization, and awareness-raising activities for gender equality initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collect and utilize data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to manage workload prioritization
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and management skills
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks, demands, and deadlines positively, with minimal supervision
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Desire and capability to engage directly with communities and support grassroots groups in their activities
- Robust interpersonal and team-building skills
- Excellent command of both English and Kiswahili, written and verbal
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant applications
- Sound understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural contexts within Dodoma, with adaptability in approach
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of gender and social inclusion issues, plus experience in delivering programs addressing inequalities
- Good knowledge and understanding of child and community safeguarding practices
Responsibilities
- Support the identification, engagement, and capacity-building efforts for grassroots groups
- Facilitate and monitor project activities at both district and community levels
- Collaborate effectively with Local Government Authorities (LGAs), TGNP, AKF, and other key stakeholders to maximize project impact
- Provide assistance with data collection, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) activities, and coordinate field visits
- Actively promote gender mainstreaming and inclusivity across all project interventions
