Job Description

M-Gas, a provider of clean cooking fuel in Tanzania through its 'Pay-As-You-Cook' model, is seeking an HSE Intern to support its operations in Dar es Salaam. The company uses smart meter technology to make LPG gas affordable, delivering cylinders and stoves to customers’ homes. The HSE Intern will assist in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly for LPG operations, while supporting the company’s mission to provide accessible clean energy solutions.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
• Good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment regulatory frameworks
• Strong knowledge of LPG safety standards (NFPA 58, ISO standards, etc.)
• Excellent auditing, inspection, and risk assessment skills
• Ability to communicate safety procedures clearly to diverse teams
• Proficiency in safety reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel to field locations
• Certification in Fire Safety, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), or equivalent (advantageous)
• Familiarity with LPG operations, storage standards, and transport safety requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting health, safety, and environmental audits and inspections
• Support compliance with LPG safety standards (NFPA 58, ISO standards, etc.)
• Perform risk assessments for LPG operations, storage, and transport
• Communicate safety procedures and guidelines to staff and field teams
• Prepare and maintain safety reports using reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite
• Support the implementation of HSE policies and procedures
• Assist in monitoring and ensuring safe delivery and handling of gas cylinders
• Participate in field visits to assess safety compliance at customer sites
• Collaborate with teams to address safety concerns and improve practices
• Contribute to training sessions on fire safety and hazardous materials handling
