Job Description

Mogo Credit Tanzania, a new venture by Eleving Group, a leading international fintech company operating in over 15 countries, is seeking a Debt Collection and Telesales Manager to join its founding team in Dar es Salaam. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a company from the ground up in a collaborative, non-bureaucratic, and sustainable work environment. The Debt Collection and Telesales Manager will lead debt recovery and telesales efforts, ensuring high performance and compliance while supporting Mogo’s mission of increasing financial access and social mobility through innovative products like car, motorcycle, tuk-tuk, and smartphone financing, as well as logbook loans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field
  • Master’s degree (advantageous)
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in debt collection and telesales management, preferably in the financial services or microfinance sector
  • Strong knowledge of debt recovery regulations and telesales best practices
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office Suite, and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to build rapport with diverse teams and clients
  • Knowledge of having worked with call centre systems
  • Experience managing workload using autodial (advantageous)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor effective debt collection strategies to maximize recoveries while maintaining customer relationships
  • Manage all Call Centre operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the collection team, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory guidelines
  • Review delinquent accounts and assign appropriate follow-up actions
  • Track, analyze, and report on collection performance metrics, implementing corrective measures where necessary
  • Train and mentor collection officers to enhance negotiation skills, customer handling, and efficiency
  • Manage workload using available resources
  • Lead and manage the telesales team to achieve sales targets across the company’s product portfolio
  • Monitor and improve telesales scripts, pitches, and calling strategies to maximize conversion rates
  • Implement CRM and call management best practices to ensure timely follow-ups and effective customer engagement
  • Develop cross-selling and upselling strategies for existing customers
  • Set clear performance targets for both departments and ensure consistent monitoring and feedback
  • Provide coaching, training, and development plans to build high-performing teams
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture
  • Work closely with senior management to align collection and telesales strategies with company goals
  • Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and lead operational efficiency projects
  • Prepare regular reports on team performance, recovery rates, sales conversions, and other KPIs for management review
