Kilombero Sugar Company Limited (KSCL) is hiring a Pump Chemigation Operator. This position is vital for the agricultural operations of KSCL’s 26,000-hectare crop estate, supporting efficient irrigation and cultivation practices. Requirements

• Secondary education or vocational training in agriculture, irrigation, or mechanical operations
• Experience with irrigation systems, pump operation, and basic maintenance
• Knowledge of chemical handling and application procedures in an agricultural context (e.g., fertilizers, pesticides)
• Ability to monitor pump performance and adjust settings as needed
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills for irrigation equipment
• Valid Tanzanian driver's license (advantageous)
• Commitment to safety and environmental best practices in chemical application

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain irrigation pumps and chemigation equipment on the agricultural estate
• Mix and apply chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) accurately through the irrigation system as per specified rates and schedules
• Monitor irrigation system performance, pressure, and flow rates to ensure efficient water and chemical distribution
• Conduct routine inspections of pumps, pipes, and related equipment, reporting any malfunctions or leaks
• Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, irrigation schedules, and equipment maintenance
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially concerning chemical storage and application
• Collaborate with agricultural supervisors to optimize irrigation and chemigation strategies
