Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field
• 2-4 years of experience in nursery management, preferably in a large-scale agricultural setting (e.g., sugarcane, forestry, or similar crops)
• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
• Knowledge of plant propagation techniques, pest and disease control, and nursery management practices
• Ability to plan, organize, and monitor nursery operations efficiently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a team

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the speedling nursery, ensuring optimal production of healthy sugarcane seedlings
• Supervise and train nursery staff, allocating tasks and monitoring performance
• Ensure proper planting, watering, fertilizing, and pest/disease management practices are followed
• Manage inventory of nursery supplies, including seeds, growing media, and trays
• Maintain accurate records of nursery production, growth rates, and seedling quality
• Coordinate with agricultural teams for timely transfer of seedlings to the fields
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards within the nursery
